Author to speak on finding a calling

Author of “Callings: Finding & Following an Authentic Life” will give two presentations on April 11 for Santa Rosa Junior College students, staff as well as the general public. Gregg Levoy will lead a staff seminar entitled “Callings: The Power of Passionate Work” at 1:30 p.m. in the Carole Ellis Auditorium on the Petaluma campus. REMINDER: The application deadline for the renewed Doyle Scholarship offered to incoming freshmen at Santa Rosa Junior College next fall is Thursday, March 14. The renewed Doyle Scholarship is being offered to members of the graduating class of 2013 who will enroll as full-time students at the junior college. Applicants must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in high school to qualify. The application deadline for the renewed Doyle Scholarship offered to incoming freshmen at Santa Rosa Junior College next fall is Thursday, March 14. The renewed Doyle Scholarship is being offered to members of the graduating class of 2013 who will enroll as full-time students at the junior college. SRJC’s Wagner named educator of the year

Santa Rosa Junior College head football coach and chairman of the kinesiology, athletics and dance department Lenny Wagner has been named educator of the year by the California Community College Physical Educators. Seven recipients are named statewide. Wagner won the award in the faculty member category. Santa Rosa Junior College will host a day-long conference entitled “How Green Jobs Can Rebuild California” on March 1 in the Bertolini Student Center on the Santa Rosa campus. Speakers include Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, SRJC President Frank Chong, Sonoma County Supervisor Mike McGuire, as well as representatives from the California High Speed Rail Authority, Union Bank of Switzerland, Sonoma County Job Link, Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART), PG&E, and the Sonoma County Water Agency. REMINDER, DEADLINE TO APPLY IS THURSDAY: Santa Rosa Junior College is launching a new teaching fellows program for students interested in becoming teachers, librarians, counselors, psychologists or administrators. The program will match 12 students with 12 teachers who will serve as mentors. The program offers qualified students $1,800 as a merit-based award for the semester. The funding comes from a $5 million gift given to the college from an anonymous donor this year. The deadline to apply is Nov. 8… Read More »
