Union backs teacher’s wish to support student who attacked him

The Santa Rosa Teachers Association has given Midrose High School teacher Tyler Ahlborn paid work days so the veteran teacher can attend court hearings for the boy who attacked him on campus Nov. 19. Ahlborn was stabbed multiple times about the head and neck in an attack that prompted a schoolwide lockdown and hours-long manhunt just before the Thanksgiving break. SRCS gets first donation for Columbine locks

$25 down, $999,975 to go. In a Close To Home column published in the wake of the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., Santa Rosa Teachers Association President Andy Brennan advocated against calls for arming school teachers. A better strategy, he said, would be to invest in the installation of “Columbine Locks” on all classrooms doors. SR board gives Liddell send-off

The Santa Rosa School Board give a long, laudatory sendoff to outgoing Superintendent Sharon Liddell Wednesday night – her last at the helm of Sonoma County’s largest school district. Liddell announced her resignation in February after nine years with the district.
