Windsor grad Tracy wins Bouverie scholarship

Recent Windsor High School graduate Nick Tracy was named the 2012 winner of David Bouverie Scholarship at the Bouverie Preserve last week. The $1,500 scholarship was established in memory of Phyllis Ellman who is called the “founding mother” of the Bouverie Preserve Environmental Education Program. The scholarship fund provides academic scholarships to participants of the Bouverie Junior Naturalist Program, called Junipers, who remain involved through high school and plan to pursue higher education in the biological sciences or environmental education, according… Read More »

Windsor High’s Vineyard Academy honored with SSU award

Windsor High School has been awarded the Sonoma State University School of Education Jack London Secondary Education Award for their Vineyard Academy. Teachers honored include: Marie Ganister, Bernard Kaufman, Jonathan Weller and Louis Ganzler. Students in the program compete in the Chefs of Tomorrow competition, create menus for visiting dignitaries, design wedding cakes and tend a community garden. They also take business finance classes, financial literacy and partner with the Windsor Chamber of Commerce on tourism promotion projects.

Loads of live music at Analy’s Fall Fest

Piner students chefs honored

Just in time for lunch, check out the award-winning menu prepared by 17 Piner High School culinary arts students who took home the top prize at the “Chefs of Tomorrow” competition at Vintner’s Inn on April 7. Windsor High sending 4 to state debate tourney

Winsor High School has qualified four students to compete in the high school debate competition April 15-17 in San Diego. Jason Fauss and Jonathan Jeffrey posted the league’s best record. The WHS team won first place sweepstakes in parliamentary and public forum debate. The competition, held at James Logan High School in Union City, featured 52 teams. Something unique came from many of the interviews yesterday with people affected by Otter Vilagomez’s leap from the Golden Gate Bridge Thursday. Vilagomez lived and reportedly made it to shore largely on his own strength. UPDATE: New news from Windsor. Just got a note from Coach St. Amant, who informs ExtraCredit that senior team captains Jakob Christensen and Amy Jeffrey qualified for the California State Finals April 15-17 in San Diego.
