Program aims at teens needing second chance at diploma

YouthBuild may no longer be operational in Sonoma County, but Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County is still running an alternative school for out of school youths. “Youth Connections” targets those 16 to 22 years old who are currently out of school. “We offer them a second chance at a high school diploma,” said Jason Carter, program manager. YouthBuild graduates 9 in ‘moving’ ceremony

Our local YouthBuild program held its annual high school graduation last week, sending nine students off with a bit more than a diploma. Community Action Partnership YouthBuild puts at-risk students typically between the ages of 16 and 24 part time in the classroom and part time out in the field, learning construction trades.
