Maya DiRado, a Stanford-bound Maria Carrillo High senior, is Santa Rosa City School’s student of the month.

Press Democrat reporter Eric Branch did a great story on DiRado earlier this month. Read that here (because I’d be here all day if I listed half of her accomplishments): http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091031/SPORTS/910319970

Meantime, here is a bit more praise heaped on the extraordinary student athlete.

She has a weighted grade point average of 4.6 and earned a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SAT. She ranks fourth in her class.

DiRado is active in the Junior Statesman of America club and the Elias Club which raises awareness and resources for Zimbabwe relief efforts. She is also an editor of the school newspaper, the Puma Prenza. She has been team captain for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in which her teams have raised more than $10,000 for cancer research and prevention.

“Plainly, Maya emulates everything we hope for in a Maria Carrillo student and graduate,” said Carrillo’s staffers.
