Dr. Chris Impey, co-chair of the astronomy department at the University of Arizona will give a talk on “The End,” about the end of life in the universe at 7 p.m. tonight.

Impey, who published “The Living Cosmos” in 2007, will address why humans are unlikely to be exempt from the extinction that has been the fate of all species on Earth.

Also speaking with Impey will be SRJC physics instructor Lynda Williams. Williams performs original science musicals for scientists and the public.

Music will provide a subtext for tonight’s talk, according to organizers.

The talk begins at 7 p.m. in the Carole L. Ellis Auditorium on the Petaluma campus.

The lecture is free.
