Madone School in Rincon Valley is getting an facelift courtesy of a crew of volunteers Saturday and the public is invited to chip in.

The work day is part of “Comcast Cares Day.”

Work runs from 8 a.m. to noon and participants include Santa Rosa’s Mayor Susan Gorin, councilmember Jane Bender and Madrone Principal Michael Kellison.

Madrone’s event is one of 14 projects across California.

Work is expected to include painting walls, planting shrubs and performing landscaping projects.

Students are also expected to take part.

Interested in getting dirty on this one? Call 916-515-2821 and let them know you are coming.

I’m hoping to post pictures from the event on Sunday.

Madrone Elementary is located at 4550 Rinconada Ave. in Santa Rosa.
