Strawberry School celebrated its award-winning robotics team Tuesday after the team came away with an armful of prizes at the Sonoma County Robotics Challenge last Saturday.

Elementary and middle school students in grades four through eight competed in challenges with names like “Sumo,” “Woots & Snarks,” “Free-Form Challenge,” “Kick the Can,” and “Drag Racing.”

More than 350 students from 27 schools competed.

The team from Strawberry was given the “Golden Propeller Head” award from the county office of education for its excellent teamwork, mechanical design, programming and performance, according to officials. Team coaches Kirby Bobo and Helen Day were named coaches of the year.
