Juana Nunez, an eighth grader at Comstock Middle School, is Santa Rosa City Schools middle school student of the month for May.
Nunez, a member of the Sonoma State University “Meteor” program for university-bound young women who excel in math and science, is praised for her keen curiosity and willingness to spend the extra time to learn a difficult concept.
One teacher praised her as the type of student she initially joined the teaching ranks to be around.
Nunez is described as a funny person, but one who doesn’t use her humor to harm others. She’s “drama free,” according to Comstock officials.
Nunez is active in leadership, AVID, school sports and competitive soccer.
