Bayer Farm is hosting a family work/volunteer day this Saturday to prepare the facility for its fall lineup activities which includes visits from schools, as well as family-friendly events.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. volunteers are needed to get dirty and put some work into the farm at 1550 West Ave. The event is supported by REI.

Bring water, a sunhat and a snack. The folks at the farm will provide the tools and direction. Tasks will include mixing soil amendments into garden beds, tending compost piles, planting seeds and starts, weeding and mulching, according to the folks at LandPaths.

Bayer Farm is a joint project between the city of Santa Rosa and the non-profit LandPaths.

The farm includes a community garden with organic produce.
