Both groups passed on incumbents Eric Kirchmann and Leff Brown.

Mark Galipeau, past president of the teachers union and current chairman of the union’s political action committee said the picks reflect members’ want of change.

“It’s been status quo for way too long,” he said. “The two incumbents we did not choose have been around since 1990. They have been at the helm for the entire process…they have just watched the continual declining enrollment for their entire career as school board members.”

“We want to put people in there who will help take the district in a new direction, to think outside the box,” he said.
