Sonoma State University music professor Laxmi G. Tewari will give a performance of traditional Hindustani classic vocal music on Nov. 13.

An ethnomusicologist at SSU since 1974, Tewari has travelled worldwide, living among rural people in Turkey, India, Trinidad and Tobago and collecting their folk music, according to SSU.

Singing devotional songs of Northern India, Tewari will be joined by Vivek Datar on harmonium, Ravi Gutala on table, and Rami Ziadeh and Chinthu Sachi on tambura.
Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. performance are $12 general admission, $10 for SSU faculty, alumni and staff and $8 for seniors and students. SSU students are free with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at www.sonoma.edu/performingarts/music/ or by calling 664-2353.
