A host of North Coast educators were honored last week as the California League Middle School handed out its annual teacher and administrator of the year awards.

Slater Middle School’s Wendy Anderson was named Teacher of the Year for Region 1 that covers Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties, according to Judy Mahoney who is a former trustee for the CLMS. Anderson now moves on to compete against 10 other regional educators of the year for state honors. Arlen Agapinan, director of student and support services for Santa Rosa City Schools, was named administrator of the year for the region.

The state conference is scheduled for Feb. 25-27 in Sacramento.

Other local nominees included Robin Clark from Comstock; Mary Ann Ayala from Cook; Sally McComas from Rincon Valley; Neal Arneson from Santa Rosa; Rick Mulvihill from Eagle Peak in Redwood Valley; Robin Doherty from Healdsburg Junior High; Chris Miller from Pomolita in Ukiah and Marie Bryant from Windsor.
