Corona Creek Elementary and Kenilworth Junior High students are winding down from hosting 12 students from Japan who have stayed with host families and toured the schools.

The eighth grade students are from Hiroo, Japan and have spent time at Corona Creek as well as at the junior high where they observed English, math and science classes, according to Felicia Bosarge, a teacher guide for the exchange students.

The students, chosen through a rigorous process, arrived on Thursday.

At Corona Creek Friday, they broke into small groups and taught the younger students about Japanese culture, schools, origami and took questions.

The group walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, ate at In-N-Out Burger, toured the Santa Rosa Junior College campus, shopped in Petaluma and stayed with host families.

The group headed to San Francisco today for a sightseeing tour before heading home.

The visit was organized by Peoplelink of Petaluma.
