Greta Viguie, Petaluma’s longtime superintendent, is retiring.

Viguie has been with Sonoma County’s second largest school district for eight years.

With Viguie at the helm, Petaluma has won several education awards, including: the Jack London Award, Distinguished School Award, Blue Ribbon School award, and the Golden Bell award.

Viguie’s retirement is effective June 20.

Cotati-Rohnert Park Superintendent Barbara Vrankovich is also expected to retire at the end of the school year, leaving the superintendent post at two of the county’s three largest school districts open.
