The debate team from St. Vincent High School pulled in more trophies at a recent debate at Lowell High School in San Francisco than any other high school in Sonoma, Marin, Napa and San Francisco counties, according to school officials.

School officials singled out the performance of varsity debaters Hisa Tome and James Fidler, Matthew Aguirre and Josh Martin, and Drew Hoppe and Jacob Vitkauskas at the Jan. 22 event.

In junior varsity debate, Hannah Upton and Madison Thompson, Sydney Griggs and Brianna Martin, Tressa Edwards and Brittany Gamlen, and Julia Anderson and Fiona Duffy all earned winning records.

In novice debate, Matt Parchivina and Harmony Carrillo went undefeated and Jennifer Locke and Allie Fiegel, and Nick Braun and Chris Braun earned winning records.

Upcoming tournaments include competitions at both Cal and Stanford as well as the state qualifying events in March.
