Santa Rosa Junior College will mark Mental Health Awareness Week on both the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses this week.

On Monday, two 90-minute workshops on suicide prevention training will be held. In the Richard Call Building on the Petaluma campus, the course will run from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. In Santa Rosa, the training will be offered from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Among the activities are a performance from comedian Brian Wetzel from noon to 1 p.m. on

Wednesday in the Bertolini Student Center. Wetzel touches on his experiences with depression and substance abuse in his performance, according to the school.

Also on Wednesday, a mental health networking event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bertolini Student Center on the Santa Rosa campus. More than 20 community mental health agencies will meet with participants one on one and share available services in the community.

Nationwide, suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students, according to SRJC Student Health Services.
