Kevin DiGiulio is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month.
DiGuilio’s story is an interesting one. He became an emancipated minor at 16 and was competing in wrestling, football and rugby for the Elsie Allen High Lobos, earning him the respect of his coaches and teachers, according to district officials.
DiGuilio, because of his emancipation status, needed to graduate high school prior to his 18th birthday so enrolled at Midrose High to increase his courseload to an average of 21 credits per quarter, according to district officials.
His scheduled graduation this month is a testament to his character, school officials said.
DiGuilio plans to attend Santa Rosa Junior College and eventually enlist in a branch of the armed forces.
