Tovi Jonah Balliao is Santa Rosa City Schools middle school student of the month for April.

The Comstock Middle School eighth grader is top student with a 4.0 grade point average; outstanding athlete who competes in basketball, wrestling and track; and is an outgoing student leader on campus who typically is master of ceremonies at school functions, according to Comstock officials.

Balliao is active in the school’s gifted and talented program, took part in a summer algebra academy, after school tutoring and talent search. Balliao plans to attend Piner High School and enroll in that school’s Early College Magnet program.

“Tovi is the sharpest student that I have ever had,” said U.S. history teacher Caleb Lefkowitz. “He is fascinated by U.S. government and its judicial system.”

“There is nothing he can’t accomplish,” said algebra teacher Mary Ann Simon.
