Ron Calloway has been named the new superintendent of Mark West School District. Kay Schultz, who has led the district for six years, will retire in June. Calloway will take over July 1.

Calloway is currently principal at San Miguel School.

His background includes stints as assistant superintendent of human resources at Santa Rosa City Schools, principal at Steele Lane Elementary School, coordinator of operational services. He taught grades four through six in the Rincon Valley School District.

Mark West serves 1,300 kindergarten through sixth grade students in three elementary schools as well as a 7-8th grade charter school that includes a home study program.

A reception will be held 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 23 in the district board room, 305 Mark West Springs Rd.
