Santa Rosa Middle School’s Stacey Olson has won the finals in the junior division of the National History Day California competition. With the win for her paper “The Camp David Accords: A Triumph of Diplomacy,” the seventh grader will advance to the National Finals in June.

Last year Olson, then a sixth grader at Santa Rosa Accelerated Charter School, won the “Outstanding State Project” for California for her documentary on artificial satellites.

About 1,000 elementary, middle and high school students took part in the state competition in San Jose earlier this month. The theme of the competition was “Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.”

Nationwide, about 700,000 students participate annually.
